District Award of Merit Nominations 2012

It’s time to submit deserving Scouters from Pioneer Trails District for the District Award of Merit.

The District Award of Merit is the highest award that can be awarded at District Level. Here is a link to the nomination form for the award. Feel free to copy it and share it with those who might be interested. Please note: District Award of Merit nominations must be current. If you submitted someone last year, or earlier, you need to submit a new, up-to-date, nomination form. Not doing so will place your old nomination at a serious disadvantage. Please limit the nomination submission to the information on the front page, one page to record additional information that won’t fit on the front page (training, dates, awards, etc) and a one page nomination letter/narrative.

Please submit your nominations to me by the February Roundtable, February 2, 2012. You may submit them hard copy, or electronically in PDF format. submit your nomination forms to Sid Hughes in person, by regular mail, or send to his e-mail address.

New District Legacy Awards

Three new district level legacy awards will be introduced in Pioneer Trails District for the Scout Year 2011-2012, and will be awarded at the District Dinner, March 9, 2012.  These new awards are to honor those unsung scouter heroes and community leaders that we all know and admire. These new awards are:

  • Outstanding District Scouter [working title – final award name to be announced at the District Dinner] – This scouter has made or is making significant contributions to your unit or another unit by help the various leaders. He or she has also served or is serving as staff at any District or Council event such as University of Scouting, Pow Wow, Chautauqua, Day Camp, Camporee, Klonderee, Merit Badge College, etc.
  • Footsteps of our Founder - This recognition is for a registered adult volunteer. His / her devotion to scouting is clearly apparent not only by the significant investment of time but also by the depth of heart and display of Scout Spirit.. Scouters like this are a source of inspiration and motivation to youth earning their way to Eagle and to other adults who will carry on the legacy of Scouting in the Footsteps of our Founder(s).
  • Pioneer Trails District Community Leader Award - Awarded to a member of the community who is not a scouter but has greatly assisted Scouting in our district.

Please help honor our hard working scouters and community members who so deserve our respect.  To nominate someone for this award, please complete the online nomination form.

These awards are offered to deserving individuals in addition to the District Award of Merit and Outstanding Scouter (unit level)
